At the suggestion of survivors of the Buna/Monowitz concentration camp who were or still are members of the Council of Survivors at the Fritz Bauer Institute, the Institute invited a fairly large number of survivors to a first meeting in Frankfurt am Main in 1998. A second meeting followed in 2004, this time organized by the Initiative of Students in the I.G. Farben Building and the Fritz Bauer Institute. On the second occasion, Buna/Monowitz concentration camp survivors met with groups of Frankfurt school and university students and told the stories of their survival, and these conversations played a major role.

For the opening of the Wollheim Memorial on November 2, 2008, the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and the Claims Conference invited survivors of the Buna/Monowitz concentration camp to Frankfurt, where they once again engaged in conversations with school students.
