Buna
I.G. Farben developed a synthetic rubber known as "Buna." The material was intended to compete with natural rubber, which Germany needed for its wartime economy (automobile tires) and had to import. The term "Buna" was also applied to the concentration camp built by I.G. Farben for the concentration camp prisoners right at the edge of the plant site.
