Kapo
In the Buna/Monowitz concentration camp, "Kapos" were used as "prisoner functionaries." A Kapo was in charge of each work detachment at the construction site. The Kapo monitored the prisoners' work at the construction site, and in so doing had wide discretion in determining how brutal and capricious or how friendly and helpful his treatment of the prisoners would be.
