Monowice

In 1942, I.G. Farben built a barracks camp on the site of the Polish village of Monowice. As of late October 1942, it housed concentration camp prisoners who had to work at the I.G. Auschwitz construction site. The terms "Buna camp" (Lager Buna) and "Monowitz camp" (Lager Monowitz) were used for the corporate camp. After the liberation of Poland in 1945, the village of Monowice was rebuilt.
