Sephardim
Sephardi Jews trace their origin to the Jews expelled from Spain and Portugal in the late fifteenth century. The term is derived from the Hebrew name for Spain: Sfarad. In contrast, Jews of Central and Eastern European origin are referred to as Ashkenazim or Ashkenazi Jews.
