Stalag
Stalag is an abbreviation for Stammlager ("main camp"). In the Nazis' language, it denoted a prisoner-of-war camp. The correct term was Mannschaftsstamm und -straflager. According to the Geneva Convention, prisoners of war must be housed in camps of their own, where no other prisoners are interned.
